The Rotaract Club of Macau was a community-based Club chartered in the 1988-1989. In 1991, the Club leaded by President Jeff Suen was restructured, reactivated and formed by 20 young members, most of them were the students of University of Macau who endeavored to enlighten the spirit of Rotaract and they successfully recruited their fellows who also showed their interest in joining Rotaract Clubs.
With the support of our Mother Club, Rotary Club of Macau and Macau SAR Government, the Club has organized activities throughout these years in the aim to serve the needy in our community and to broaden the horizon of each participant.
Meanwhile, major activities organized by the Club included:
- 'Power Construction 1992-1999,' a project which had rotated to different themes every year, a large number of volunteers were recruited to spare efforts to serve. For instance, strengthening youth anti-drug awareness in Macao.
- 'New Generation Youth Conference' was a joint project organized with the Rotaract Club of Macau Central, Rotaract Club of Hou Kong and Rotaract Club of Guia in Macau since 1997. The project initiate youngsters to express their opinion about Macao policies and discuss with representatives from different government departments;
- 'Charity Trip to Guangxi' is an annual poverty relief project initiate by Rotary Club of Macau ten years ago. Working together with the Rotaract Club of University of Macau Students' Union, we have been bringing care, love and hope to those children and elderly who live in the rural region and we also bring along with the donated materials to the school campuses financially supported by Rotary Club of Macau.
- One of the significant projects 'the Goodwill Ambassador Program' (GWA) helps to promote international understanding and foster goodwill between Macao and other countries. The participants of GWA are required to carry out an international service project in various, assigned themes and liaise with different Rotaract Clubs from other countries. In the past years, as a winning prize, the GWA winners have traveled to Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Australia, Nepal, India, Mongolia, Indonesia and Srl Lanka to promote Macao and perform service projects in the designated place. Recognized by the Rotary International District 3450, the 12th Goodwill Ambassador Program has been awarded 'Outstanding International Service Project Award' for the Rotaract Year 2013-2014 which reaffirms the Club for the sustainable efforts and contributions in building up international platform and friendship with other Rotaract Club around the world.
Signing agreement with a number of Sister Club with a number of Sister Clubs and Twin Clubs fosters a strong connection with oversea clubs for various internaitonal service projects. We signed the Sister Club Agreement with Rotaract Club of Tanglin from Singapore in 1998, with the Rotaract Club of Semarang Yudhistira from Indonesia in 2011 and also with the Rotaract Club Deonar from India in 2014. Apart from signing sister agreement, we also established strong relationships by signing Twin Club Agreement.
